NYC Update — Corona Day 9

People have asked me for my daily procedures to stay disinfected in NYC.

Here’s the core idea: Keep a “clean zone” — your disinfected home. Any surface outside of the “clean zone” is potentially contaminated and must be decontaminated before it enters the clean zone.

I live in a one-bedroom NYC apartment. This means everything outside my apartment’s door is a public space and presumed to be contaminated. Which includes trips to the garbage and to the lobby to retrieve mail and packages.

How did I come up with my process? I read and researched *a ton* and added common sense.

WON’T THIS TAKE A LONG TIME?????

I thought you’d ask. Here’s my timer from last night’s clean zone maintenance. Ten minutes.

Ten Minutes on My Timer

Here’s my process on creating and keeping a “clean zone.”

  1. Creating a clean zone: Nightly disinfect all frequently touched surfaces

I disinfect my one-bedroom apartment using water and bleach (1/3 cup of bleach per gallon — the CDC guideline).
