NYC Corona — Day 2. Dad and Dogs

I went to Central Park this morning, as usual, to walk Orpheus the Whippet.

— A man and I walked toward each other on a wooded path. He backed out of the path until I passed with the dog. It was a small movement, but what a way to start the day!

— Here’s what the park normally looks like during prime dog-walking time.

And here’s what it looked like today.

— There is mixed news as to whether dogs carry Corona or whether they can transmit. So people are keeping their dogs away from one another. Orpheus, who lives to play with other dogs, is bummed, and taking it out on sticks and pine cones.

Dad — Saw him and Mom yesterday. (This picture is from a few months ago.) Dad is 92 has survived lung cancer and two heart valve replacements. Mom is 89 and has some cognitive deficits due to a stroke. They like to see my dog. Dad was not sure why I insisted on keeping 6 feet away. I left him with some masks and convinced him (I think)to wear them when he goes out. Dad goes to mass every single day. It’s a bummer that all masses have been cancelled.
