I flew to Chicago from NYC this week, and I used it as a test case of flying Corona safe.

Experts disagree on how long the Corona virus can survive on surfaces. I have read a low of 24 hours, to a high of 1 week.

What experts agree upon is that if someone else, or many people, touch a surface during this pandemic, and you want to stay clear of infection, you must assume it’s contaminated until it has been decontaminated.

Here’s what I learned about whether you can keep yourself protected from the Corona virus on a flight from New York to Chicago.

The supplies:

I have a friend, let’s call her Jan, with a compromised immune system who flies a couple times a year. Even before Corona, Jan knew how to protect herself.

Jan prepped me on what I would need:

· A mask, preferably the N95.

· Several pairs (8–10) blue nitrile gloves.
